A cake smash photo session is full of activity. It holds your child's attention. It engages her, and this translates into some pretty great pictures.
We start with one simple family photo.
Then we do a few formal portraits of Baby.
Now the cake smash! The best kind of cake is a white, light (not dense) cake. A creamier frosting works better than stiff frosting. Remove cake from your refrigerator at least two hours before your photoshoot.
Bring some sort of diaper cover for this part of the session. Some parents bring a banner or something for the backdrop. I have a few simple banners we can use if you like. A lot of babies do not like cake. It’s a good idea to have her try a bit of cake prior to the shoot.
The frosting gets thick! Bring a bottle or a sip cup to the studio.
Now we have one very messy baby. After cleaning Baby up, it's time for a bubble bath. I use hyperallergic soap to make the bubbles. If you prefer to use something else, please bring it with you to the shoot.
