What to Wear

Here are a few things to avoid:

1.  I don't like harsh colors especially neons because the camera has a more difficult time exposing for the skin when there are neons around.  Most people don't choose to wear neon clothing, but it does happen.

2. A long neck is very flattering and a scarf around the neck gives the opposite effect.  Some women are long enough that a scarf can be a flattering look for them, but most women should avoid scarves in portraits.

3.  I typically take arms in a bit in photoshop because the camera adds a bit of weight and this is my way. of reversing. that, but if you are super sensitive about your arms, please consider wearing long sleeves.

What looks good in the studio:

1.  I'm a big fan of neutrals and jeans with bare feet.  It always looks good.  People feel comfortable in this attire, and that shows in the picture.

2. Wear something special.  I also like when families get super dressed up for pictures because it doesn't happen often in our culture, and it immediately makes the images special and timeless.

3. Colors.  I like when large family groups choose one shade of red, for example, and then a neutral and when they show up they have this wide range of reds.

For little ones, make sure if they have fine whispy hair, that you pull it away from their hair somehow.

Please take note that shoes and/or feet may be photographed.   Also,  I often include hands in portraits.
